Ultrasound beams could be the answer to chronic back agony

Technology used to confirm pregnancy or diagnose heart disease is now being used to treat low back pain. Pilot studies have suggested that therapeutic ultrasound can ease the symptoms of sciatica, and now University of Manchester researchers are recruiting patients for the first clinical trial. The trial will be made up of people over the age of 22, who have had symptoms of sciatica for less than three months. Sciatica is pain along the path of the sciatic nerve, the longest in the body, which runs from the pelvis down the back of each leg. The sciatic nerve controls many of the muscles in the lower legs and provides feeling to the thighs, legs and feet. Sciatic pain is often the result of the nerve root getting compressed by a bulging disc in the lower back.

Each year in the UK, between three and seven million people see their GP about low back pain or sciatica, and around 100,000 are admitted to hospital.

Ultrasound is widely used in medicine, mainly as a scanning technique. Last week, it was reported that high intensity sound waves were also being used to destroy fibroids in the womb.

Arthritis

There are many forms of arthritis but the two most common are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Osteoarthritis comes about because of wear and tear, the aging process, certain occupations, or excess of exercise. Anything that repetitively stresses the joints over time wears down the cartilage and causes inflammation which occurs due to the destruction of cells causing pain, soreness of joints, and inflammation. This is usually associated with aging, but also can occur earlier in life depending on the abuse to the body from certain activities and occupations. Rheumatoid arthritis can come on very early in age, even in juveniles. This is usually caused by a problem in the body’s immune system, making it an autoimmune disease. It can be caused by certain types of diets, or triggered by inflammation, which causes soreness in the muscles, pain, inflammation, redness, stiffness, all which are associated with all forms of arthritis.

ëThe External Neuromodulation Device Update!

The release date is a little later than planned as there some final additions going to be added to the device, one of them being a pin code that Doctor's can use to set the patient's personal pain busting strength limit so as not to hurt themselves with the current. So as you can tell...this machine is pretty strong. Yep it is something I have used which has be effective in helping my pain. I had another go more recently in April via the NHS and am due to use it again in July when I should be one of the first issued with a device from the first batch by then. I will keep you posted on it as I am also in touch with the company making and distributing the device around the world. Yep it is not a cure for TTS, but it is said to give longer lasting relief than other devices such as TEN's. Some people reported relief lasting as long as 3-5 days with a single use. So keep watch!

ëEssaïdi Aqua Tilis Therapy & E.N.D.P

I have recently been to Eindhoven in Holland specifically for Aqua Tilis Therapy that Dr Trossel recommended. I have had 5 treatments combined with taking a herbal medicine orally and also soaking my feet in a herbal mixture every day for an hour. Everything is natural and I have experienced no side effects. The results are amazing! It is not a cure but the good news is that it has muted my neuropathy! The burning, shooting pain has stopped, I have some feeling in the sole of my foot (which has felt dead for nearly a year now) and I can sleep all through the night! I have more energy and I can cope with my medication I am taking because it has stopped the side effects! I am still in pain, the pain I refer to as TTS pain, combined with mild restless legs syndrome, but I have some control over it now. Aqua Tilis has REALLY helped!

Also… Mr Essaïdi has invented a hand held magnet machine/device called Essaïdi Neuromuscular Detonisator & Pain Suppression Device, (E.N.D.P for short). Currently there is only one, which he invented originally for relief from migraines. It has helped bring back sensory feeling to my foot and taking away the hypersensitivity. I feel like I have finally reached the stage that I have only heard about, by desensitising the foot after a TT operation. Mine was a long time over due.

ëThe External Neuromodulation Device

On the 16th December 2005 I reported something would be available to help nerve pain and I had tried it and was impressed by the results. I have received emails and requests to start a message board (Denise in Virginia, USA and Bryan Wadsworth in USA…I hope this explains in more depth)

This is something I would love to add but I am unable to do so at the moment because of lack of time. I receive many emails, many requiring urgent help. As there is only myself to attend to these, it takes up most of my time and of course I am battling with my own health too. I still feel that HeelSpurs message board is the most used by TTS sufferers and is clearly displayed/easy to use. I am not ruling it out, it is something I need to look into. My friend Amanda has kindly offered to help me monitor a forum if/when I add one. I am in the process of updating my website so I will be attaching links to other message boards which might be useful.
