Featured today on ITV’s This Morning Programme UKUltrasound beams could be the answer to chronic back agony
Technology used to confirm pregnancy or diagnose heart disease is now being used to treat low back pain. Pilot studies have suggested that therapeutic ultrasound can ease the symptoms of sciatica, and now University of Manchester researchers are recruiting patients for the first clinical trial. The trial will be made up of people over the age of 22, who have had symptoms of sciatica for less than three months. Sciatica is pain along the path of the sciatic nerve, the longest in the body, which runs from the pelvis down the back of each leg. The sciatic nerve controls many of the muscles in the lower legs and provides feeling to the thighs, legs and feet. Sciatic pain is often the result of the nerve root getting compressed by a bulging disc in the lower back.
Each year in the UK, between three and seven million people see their GP about low back pain or sciatica, and around 100,000 are admitted to hospital.
Ultrasound is widely used in medicine, mainly as a scanning technique. Last week, it was reported that high intensity sound waves were also being used to destroy fibroids in the womb.

PainBan X4000

Dated 31/01/2007
Pain Ban has been clinically proven to treat everything from arthritis, headaches, toothache, general joint pain, to sciatica (back pain affecting the lower half of the body). It works by delivering pulsed electromagnetic field therapy to the area of pain, which improves blood circulation and encourages/accelerates removal of pain-causing toxins. Tens of thousands of patients have been treated successfully with this technology however this is the first time the technology has ever been available in a portable hand held device. The device (the size of a large pen) is simply placed against the area of pain (at a 90 degree angle) to deliver the therapy and it can be used as often as required, although it is pre-programmed to deliver therapy in 7 minute cycles. PainBan was updated at the beginning of this year.
PainBan costs £99.95 and is available from Active Health and Nutrition Ltd by calling 0870 350 1264 or visiting

Medi Beam New treatment for Acne- launched 2 weeks ago
*MediBeam is a hand held device which uses light therapy (Phototherapy) to treat acne. It's the first ever, clinically proven device for personal acne treatment. Previously you would have had to go to a specialist dermatology clinic to receive a similar treatment.

The light is at a very low frequency so does not harm the skin like sunlight and cannot be felt during use. Goggles are included within the packaging for use if you are using near to the eyes.
*MediBeam can be used on any area where acne occurs and is simply placed against the area you wish to treat. Recommended treatment is 1-2 times a day, 6 minutes on each area. Rosehip treatment to ease Arthritis
'LitoZin® Joint Health', is available from independent and leading health stores and pharmacies, and is priced at £19.99 for 120 capsules.

Please see http://www.litozin.co.uk
and http://www.litozin.co.uk/litozininfo/aboutGOPO.cfmLitozin® is considered an anti-inflammatory supplement. Studies have shown that due to its anti-inflammatory properties, GOPO® - the active compound isolated from Rosa canina, a type of rose-hip - is more effective at reducing pain and improving mobility than other supplements for joint pain, such as glucosamine. Studies show that 82% of patients reported a reduction in pain after 3 weeks of active treatment with GOPO®. Anti-inflammatory supplements are thought to be effective in the relief of pain because they work more directly with the inflammation that causes the pain. Inflammation causes a hot spot; it causes the heat that is usually generated at a sore joint, causing swelling and soreness. An anti-inflammatory product works faster and more effectively on the pain, which is why Litozin® has become popular. Taking LitoZin® Joint Health can also decrease the need for pain-killers and anti-inflammatory drugs by 40-50%, and unlike prescription drugs it has no side-effects.

Arthritis
There are many forms of arthritis but the two most common are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Osteoarthritis comes about because of wear and tear, the aging process, certain occupations, or excess of exercise. Anything that repetitively stresses the joints over time wears down the cartilage and causes inflammation which occurs due to the destruction of cells causing pain, soreness of joints, and inflammation. This is usually associated with aging, but also can occur earlier in life depending on the abuse to the body from certain activities and occupations. Rheumatoid arthritis can come on very early in age, even in juveniles. This is usually caused by a problem in the body’s immune system, making it an autoimmune disease. It can be caused by certain types of diets, or triggered by inflammation, which causes soreness in the muscles, pain, inflammation, redness, stiffness, all which are associated with all forms of arthritis.

Aquajogger Buoyancy Belt Aid - as used by footballer Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney is using an Aquajogger as part of his physical therapy rehabilitation for a fractured metatarsal bone in his foot, in an effort to be fit enough to play for England for the World Cup 2006. The Aquajogger clips around the waist and keeps your feet off the bottom of the pool, allowing the user to run without putting weight through their injury.
The benefits of Aquajogger

· The pressure of the water in the pool improves circulation and reduces swelling in the injured areas.
· Water increases joint mobility and flexibility helping speed up your recovery time and induces relaxation and provides a feeling of well-being.
· Water pressure increases blood volume per heart stroke (this works your heart muscle more and over time your heart gets more efficient), enhancing cardiac conditioning.Who should consider using an Aquajogger?
Aquajogger is ideal for following injuries such as fractures / stress fractures, knee ligament injuries, sprained or swollen ankle, as well as following knee / ankle surgery, once the wounds are sufficiently healed.

TTS sufferer’s recommendation…
‘…I had the left foot released in Nov. 2005 and was in the pool with the Aquajogger 4 weeks post op. It was awesome. It helped give me a cardio workout, helped with range of motion, swelling, strength, and just plain made me feel NORMAL that I could do something besides sit in a chair and not be vertical…’ Darlene from Iowa, USA. 22/05/2006ëHyperbaric Oxygen Therapy - as used by footballer Wayne Rooney

‘Hyperbaric’ means ‘high pressure’ which is appropriate as Wayne Roony is under high pressure as we will soon find out if the hope of him being fit enough to play for England for the World Cup 2006 is shattered. In an effort to speed up the recovery process of Wayne’s fractured metatarsal, he is undergoing a course of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. In a simulation of the pressure found 14m under water, he will suck in 100% oxygen, which is supposed to dissolve into the bloodstream, improves blood circulation and hasten the healing process.

Hyperbaric chambers and hyperbaric oxygen therapy have been in use for centuries and is used to help treat deep sea divers with decompression sickness as well as also benefiting a number of people suffering from other conditions such as the ones listed below
Here are just a few conditions that HBOT can be helpful for;
- Neuropathy related (diabetes)
- Peripheral Neuropathy (PN)
- Charcot Marie's Tooth (CMT) disease
- Sympathetic Reflex Dystrophy (RSD / CRPS)
- Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) & (ME)
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)

ëThe External Neuromodulation Device Update! The release date is a little later than planned as there some final additions going to be added to the device, one of them being a pin code that Doctor's can use to set the patient's personal pain busting strength limit so as not to hurt themselves with the current. So as you can tell...this machine is pretty strong. Yep it is something I have used which has be effective in helping my pain. I had another go more recently in April via the NHS and am due to use it again in July when I should be one of the first issued with a device from the first batch by then. I will keep you posted on it as I am also in touch with the company making and distributing the device around the world. Yep it is not a cure for TTS, but it is said to give longer lasting relief than other devices such as TEN's. Some people reported relief lasting as long as 3-5 days with a single use. So keep watch!

Essaïdi Aqua Tilis Therapy & E.N.D.PI have recently been to Eindhoven in Holland specifically for
Aqua Tilis Therapy that Dr Trossel recommended. I have had 5 treatments combined with taking a herbal medicine orally and also soaking my feet in a herbal mixture every day for an hour. Everything is natural and I have experienced no side effects. The results are amazing! It is not a cure but the good news is that it has muted my neuropathy! The burning, shooting pain has stopped, I have some feeling in the sole of my foot (which has felt dead for nearly a year now) and I can sleep all through the night! I have more energy and I can cope with my medication I am taking because it has stopped the side effects! I am still in pain, the pain I refer to as TTS pain, combined with mild restless legs syndrome, but I have some control over it now. Aqua Tilis has REALLY helped! Also…
Mr Essaïdi has invented a hand held magnet machine/device called Essaïdi Neuromuscular Detonisator & Pain Suppression Device, (E.N.D.P for short). Currently there is only one, which he invented originally for relief from migraines. It has helped bring back sensory feeling to my foot and taking away the hypersensitivity. I feel like I have finally reached the stage that I have only heard about, by desensitising the foot after a TT operation. Mine was a long time over due.To read more, please see ’Essaïdi Aqua Tilis Therapy’ http://www.Tap4TTS.co.uk/page19.htm

"Ever since I was diagnosed with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, I have wanted to own my own website where other sufferers could contact me and obtain useful information all in one place, to cut down the hours spent of endless searching for help. Mr Site has enabled me to do this. I had just bought a new, much needed computer and was not able to afford the cost of a web designer and annual renewal, plus I was completely computer illiterate. Mr Site is both easy to use and affordable. You have helped me to help other sufferers. I have had some great emails of thanks, so I would like to thank you. The support care of Mr Site is great too, my questions of help have been answered quickly and have been very helpful. Thanks again."

01/03/2006 ëMagnet Therapy - As featured on ITV’s This Morning programme “Maybe of interest to diabetics?” Helen. For the first time on the NHS GP's will be able to write prescriptions for a UK- manufactured static magnetic device to help people with leg ulcers. Derek Price discovered the power of magnets when he was looking for a cure for his dog's arthritis. The product has been trailed by Dr Nyjon Eccles who also joins us to explain how the magnets work and why they will save the NHS millions which can now be spent elsewhere.
What is this new NHS product '4Ulcercare'?
4ULCERCARE is a safe and non-invasive self-securing magnetic device worn just below the knee. The leg wrap contains four powerful 'neodymium' magnets. Each magnet has unique directional plates that allow the negative enhanced magnetic field to be absorbed deeper into the tissues. 4ULCERCARE was developed on the principle that leg ulcers will heal naturally if the body can supply enough oxygen and nutrients to the affected area, stimulated by the magnets. Leg wounds, which are usually caused by poor blood circulation, affect women more than men. Older people are at greater risk, though it is not uncommon for ulcers to first appear in middle life. Up until now the main form of prevention has been pressure stockings and sometimes surgery.
Magnopulse 4UlcerCare is available through mail order at a cost of £29.00 and also available on the NHS

ëYour Questions Answered
I really appreciate your support and interest in my website and I do take your requests seriously!
I have received emails and requests to start a
message board (Denise in Virginia, USA and Bryan Wadsworth in USA…I hope this explains in more depth)This is something I would love to add but I am unable to do so at the moment because of lack of time. I receive many emails, many requiring urgent help. As there is only myself to attend to these, it takes up most of my time and of course I am battling with my own health too. I still feel that HeelSpurs message board is the most used by TTS sufferers and is clearly displayed/easy to use. I am not ruling it out, it is something I need to look into. My friend Amanda has kindly offered to help me monitor a forum if/when I add one. I am in the process of updating my website so I will be attaching links to other message boards which might be useful. I have added ‘Tap4TTS.co.uk Support Group’ to my website, so that sufferers can send me their details and email address for me to add to it for other sufferers to contact them.
