MY STATEMENT

I am currently in between jobs as I had to resign from work as a dancer/teacher due to the out come of a Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome operation I had in July 2005. My body reacted badly to the operation and I developed further complications nerve related. It has taken up until now to regain physical strength and mobility. I now feel fit enough to go back into employment. This means that I am available to start work as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about my condition please ask or visit my website. I have a strong interest in disability needs especially now as I am disabled myself. My priorities have changed and rather than approach a dance related job I feel more compelled to charity work due to my experiences over the past year. I can relate to others needs in relation of over all quality of life and will go beyond the call of duty to offer help. Please see CURRENT CHARITABLE WORK for more information.

CURRENT CHARITABLE WORK - VOLUNTARY

In the past I have always participated and helped with organisation of charity events for numerous charities. As a child I was also a volunteer helper for The Children’s Heart Foundation. Following my TTS operation, I choose to use my time constructively be setting up an informative website for other Nerve Pain / Abnormality sufferers like myself and to help the charities which had been of help to me during that period. All listed below I have carried out independently;

Ÿ Designed charity awareness wristband, slogan/backing card for The Neuropathy Trust - Dec 2005
Wristbands are being sold at £2 each. I called a number of companies who make the wristbands to find the cheapest quote. I have supportive friends in the public eye who are supporting me and the campaign by wearing the wristband. Photos have been published in leading newspapers, magazines and on the internet.

Ÿ Christmas carol service raised £1,486.13 for The Neuropathy Trust - Dec 2005
I approached my previous boss, Sylvia Young to see if she could consider the trust in the annual carol service at Marylebone station to help raise funds/awareness as they have been very supportive towards me. With the help of staff and pupils it was a great success.

Ÿ Set up a website to help provide information for sufferers of Nerve Pain - Nov 2005
By setting up Tap4TTS.co.uk ‘Nerve Pain Sufferers United’
I have gained contact with many sufferers around the world not all with foot/nerve problems but some with MS and CP and other conditions. Since my website has be active I have informed Professors/Doctors/Consultants/Physiotherapists/other medical professionals/medical companies of my research and new treatments tried. Both here in the UK and Abroad. They have been very supportive and we have built up a good working relationship providing each other with information. I have been fortunate enough to be in a position to arrange appointments with leading consultants for other sufferers (when their efforts have failed) in the UK and US.

Ÿ Charity Recording for Great Ormond Street Hospital & Renal Ward, The Royal Free Hospital - 2006
I am currently arranging/participating in a charity recording involving celebrities and past SYTS students to record an album. The money raised from sales will go to the above charities.
