Here is a list of all (nearly all) of the consultants I have seen over the past 4 years. Some may not have been able to help me with my nerve problems but they have helped many other people with different complaints.

“I was referred to Alan Herdman by Shirley Hancock. Alan runs a Pilates gym which offers a personal programme adapted/modified for injuries. Many injured dancers attend Pilates classes as part of their recovery. Others like to attend to keep fit as an alternative to a regular gym. There are many instructors who observe you exercising once your programme is learnt so that if you have any questions or are making mistakes they are at hand to help.” Helen

“I was referred to Lee Saxby (Physical Therapist) by Simon Costain. Prior to op, Lee had really helped me to gain in strength and rectify my posture. He measured my hips and found that I had a twist, which meant that one leg was longer than the other (due to impact of car accident). Simon built up my orthotics and Lee worked with me on exercises, by setting me a personal exercise plan to do at home which we also worked on in the personal training. I am grateful for his help, as I was in a mess. As my hips began to even out other people commented on how well I looked, they had noticed a big improvement. Through Lee, I met Ciaran McCoole (Physiotherapist) who had also worked with Lee regarding my posture and after my TTS op, helped me with recovery by giving me mobility exercises and physically moving my ankle when I could not because of the pain. He has also been very supportive and helpful. To be honest, in my opinion everyone who works at
Injury Rehab are brilliant at their job. They really have a great team and I recommend them!” Helen

“My mum wrote to Gary Lewin and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal Football club (the team I support) asking for advice of a consultant who may be able to help me. Gary Lewin recommended Mr J. B. King as he is the man that they send any of the players with foot/ankle problems to, for advice/treatment. After many tests, including Nerve Conduction Studies preformed by Dr Ingram (Neurology) also at The London Independent hospital, Mr King asked me to attended an open evening for consultants where they can suggest/express their opinions and it was there that I was referred to Dr David Perry as it was thought that there may be an underlying cause. My EMG test which I had done under Mr King’s care, showed TTS and no PN, all other tests came back clear. All consultants were very thorough with investigations.” Helen

“I was referred to Dr Gallagher by Dr Perry for a nerve block injection to hopefully relieve the pain in my foot/ankle. Unfortunately it did not do so but instead increased the pain. I now know that my body is hypersensitive. Although it was not of help to me, it may be something you have considered or may want to try.” Helen

“I was referred to Dr Ian Mak for EMG test and to Dr Teodor Goroszeniuk for treatment by Mr Davies, who was my surgeon for TTS op. He has been very supportive. During my stay in hospital I found my room very clean and comfortable, and the food was great, really fresh. In fact it was almost like staying in a hotel - minus the pain! Mr Davies, acts fast and can put you in the right direction. Although my outcome of my operation was not successful, some people like myself react badly to surgery…it is something that cannot really be predicted or prevented. If I had the option of rewinding the clock back and I opted for surgery, I would still choose Mr Davies as my surgeon.” Helen

Catch All - Latest News, for more info.“I am a fan of the series The Diet Doctors on channel 5 starring Vicki Edgson along with Dr Wendy Denning. I did a search on the internet and managed to find Vicki’s contact details. I thought I had better try getting my general health right first before even contemplating going through anymore surgery. Vicki suggested small dietary changes which is helping my eczema clear up, and things to avoid at all costs because my body is reacting to shock. Vicki referred me to Dr Trossel for further help and gave me a signed copy of the book The Diet Doctors! Vicki has been very helpful and supportive.” Helen

“I was referred to Dr Trossel by Vicki Edgson. He suggested that I have my mercury filling changed to a white one as Mercury is toxic and could be a strain on my already strained nervous system, and for my dentist to also check my wisdom teeth. He also suggested Aqua Tilis treatment (available in Holland) to help stop the RSD spreading. He said some sufferers have found it helpful. Dr Trossel was very helpful and in his consultation I learnt of things I had not even considered or did not know about. Well worth the visit.” Helen

“I have been referred to Professor Birch by Mr Mark Davies for “a second opinion”. Professor Birch is running numerous tests as he thinks that there is still an underlying undiagnosed cause. He said that I have a Neuropathy that is effecting my Peripheral Nerve, but it may not be Peripheral Neuropathy. And so my story continues… I must say that when I have mentioned to other doctors/consultants both here in the UK and abroad, that I am now under the care of Professor Birch, they have all known of him, have said that he is excellent and that if he cannot find what my mystery neuropathy is…no one probably will. Professor Birch has referred me to Professor Anand for a series of tests, both Professors are in constant contact with each other which is helpful.” Helen
